常見問題解答

FAQ: Other questions about a course and a stay in Spain

Pocket money
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

This depends on the length of your stay, your lifestyle, the type of accommodation/board you´ve selected, and the don Quijote destination where you will be staying. A course counsellor may be able to answer specific questions, as may a good travel guide to the city you´ll be visiting.

Visa
  • Do I need a visa to take a course in Spain?

European Union citizens do not need a visa for stays in Spain.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and the USA don´t need visas for tourist stays up to 90 days (including language courses).
Students from other countries should ask the Spanish consulate in their country for further information.

Excursions
  • Does don Quijote offer excursions?

Yes, excursions are usually organised on weekends. They are always optional, and paid separately at the school. See the Activities page of our web, accessible from the main menu, for examples of excursions and activities at all of our schools.

  • Is the school closed on national holidays?

Yes. In cases where there are 2 holidays within the same week, one of the missed days´ classes will be made up. Spanish cities celebrate lots of local holidays, as well. To check for holidays during your preferred travel dates, visit the Price List page accessible from the main menu.

First day
  • When is the welcome dinner?

The welcome dinner for new students is held on every other Monday in each don Quijote destination.

  • What do you do on the first day of class?

As a new student, you are expected at the school at 8:00 AM. Then, if you are an absolute beginner, you will attend a welcome talk, a guided tour of the town and your first class. If you already know some Spanish, you will do your oral and written Spanish level tests before attending the guided tour of town and your first class. Every two weeks, new students are invited to a welcome dinner to help them get acquainted with the faculty and their fellow students.

Medical Insurance
  • Do I need medical insurance?

We advise all EU citizens to bring their E111 document.
We recommend that students from other countries take out the medical insurance policy provided by don Quijote.

Telephone Age
  • Is there an age limit to study with don Quijote?

In the standard courses the minumum age is 18. (We offer special courses and summer camps for students under 18 years of age.)

Is there an upper age limit! ABSOLUTELY NOT! So far we have welcomed adult students from 19 to 83 years old. It´s always a good time to learn Spanish.

  • What is the average age of don Quijote’s students?

Our students have ranged in age from 18 to 83 so far, and we offer special courses just for kids and teens from 5 to 18. Student age varies widely with time of year and destination at a school as diverse as don Quijote, but we can tell you that 45% of our students fall between 25 and 49 years old.
In short you are very welcome, whatever your age!
In our What Our Students Say section, accessible from the main menu and our home page, you can search for students your age and read about their don Quijote experience, or drop them an e-mail with specific questions.
It´s always a good time to learn Spanish, we tell you!
