How much money do I need to bring with me?
This depends on the length of your stay, your lifestyle, the type of accommodation/board you´ve selected, and the don Quijote destination where you will be staying. A course counsellor may be able to answer specific questions, as may a good travel guide to the city you´ll be visiting.

Do I need a visa to take a course in Spain?
European Union citizens do not need a visa for stays in Spain.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and the USA don´t need visas for tourist stays up to 90 days (including language courses).
Students from other countries should ask the Spanish consulate in their country for further information.

Does don Quijote offer excursions?
Yes, excursions are usually organised on weekends. They are always optional, and paid separately at the school. See the Activities page of our web, accessible from the main menu, for examples of excursions and activities at all of our schools.

Does don Quijote offer special prices for groups?
Yes! For groups of 8 people or more. Contact groups@donquijote.org to find out what special offers you can receive.

What are the advantages of a don Quijote student card?
You get discounts in participating local shops, bookstores, restaurants and bars, gyms and cinemas, and also free entrance into some museums.

How can I receive letters/faxes during my stay at don Quijote?
You can receive letters/faxes at the school’s address/fax number. Just make sure the sender clearly writes your name both on the letter/fax.

Will I have internet access at school?
Yes, at each don Quijote school there is a computer room open between 09:00 and 19:00 with free internet access. All of our don Quijote schools offer Wi-Fi, as well, for students who bring their own laptops along with them.

Is the school closed on national holidays?
Yes. In cases where there are 2 holidays within the same week, one of the missed days´ classes will be made up. Spanish cities celebrate lots of local holidays, as well. To check for holidays during your preferred travel dates, visit the Price List page accessible from the main menu.

When is the welcome dinner?
The welcome dinner for new students is held on every other Monday in each don Quijote destination.

What do you do on the first day of class?
As a new student, you are expected at the school at 8:00 AM. Then, if you are an absolute beginner, you will attend a welcome talk, a guided tour of the town and your first class. If you already know some Spanish, you will do your oral and written Spanish level tests before attending the guided tour of town and your first class. Every two weeks, new students are invited to a welcome dinner to help them get acquainted with the faculty and their fellow students.

Do I need medical insurance?
We advise all EU citizens to bring their E111 document.
We recommend that students from other countries take out the medical insurance policy provided by don Quijote.

What should I do in case of an emergency while attending don Quijote?
Upon your arrival you will be given an emergency mobile number, which you can reach 24h a day.

What is the Police phone number in Spain?
In Spain you can call the Police by dialling 091.

How do public phones work in Spain?
There are two type of public phones: coin and card phones.
You can use international calling cards from any phone.
Both phone cards and international calling cards can be bought in newspaper stands (ESTANCOS in Spanish). You may also ask your family if you can use international calling cards from their phone.

Is there an age limit to study with don Quijote?
In the standard courses the minumum age is 18. (We offer special courses and summer camps for students under 18 years of age.)
Is there an upper age limit! ABSOLUTELY NOT! So far we have welcomed adult students from 19 to 83 years old. It´s always a good time to learn Spanish. -
What is the average age of don Quijote’s students?
Our students have ranged in age from 18 to 83 so far, and we offer special courses just for kids and teens from 5 to 18. Student age varies widely with time of year and destination at a school as diverse as don Quijote, but we can tell you that 45% of our students fall between 25 and 49 years old.

Can I use my credit card everywhere in Spain?
You´ll be able to use it lots of places, and in most large stores and restaurants. In smaller cities, you´ll need to pay cash in smaller bars, restaurants and stores.
