Guanajuato Guanajuato is without a doubt one of the loveliest cities in Mexico. Founded in 1559, its name means “place of the frogs”. The main points of attraction in Guanajuato are found in the centre and can easily be visited on foot. Location: Guanajuato
|
León, Gto.
The city of León is known as the Shoe Capital of the World because of the large number of shoe factories operating here.
Dolores Hidalgo, C.I.N.
The city of Dolores Hidalgo holds the title of Cradle of Nation Independence by government decree.
Celaya
Celaya is known as “The Golden Gate of El Bajío” due to its importance in the fields of industry, agriculture, cattle raising and commerce.
Valle de Santiago, Gto.
This is known as the Land of the Seven Lamps, an allusion to the volcanic craters within the municipality.
Nightlife in Guanajuato is surprising in its diversity. It starts late and includes every sort of entertainment you can imagine. From little ”salsa” clubs and crowded discos to live concerts featuring the world’s most famous stars.

Ballet, theatre, shows of traditional music and dance, opera and philharmonic orchestras are as common as night time discos and places to drink. Boxing and wrestling matches are generally held at night, at the weekend. At night, mariachis play until far into the morning of the following day.
