Legends

The innocence of the soul is never lost.
People everywhere and in every age have listened and will continue to listen, with a transparent openness, to tales, traditions, legends and ancient chronicles; some that just barely evade the eager eyes of the profane in esoteric and mysterious ideographic codices, others that still lie forgotten in dusty, humid archives, among moth-eaten parchments, written in fading ink in characters drawn by ardent monks, and in “tongues” that came to the knowledge of the two languages that would in time prevail in what is now America.

Legend in Guanajuato

Legend of La Bufa.
Fantasy and wealth, two highly appropriate ingredients with which to forge a legend like the one we are going to tell.

Legend of Pipila.
The success of this historic clash of insurgents and royalists was chiefly due to the courage of "Pipila".

Legend of "El Callejón del Beso".
Every traveller coming to this city asks for the “Callejón del Beso”, a place which has a number of legends connected with it.

Legend of the Mummies.
The vast majority of tourists coming to Guanajuato for the first time, have received two special recommendations from people who have been before: to visit the Callejón del Beso and to see the Mummies.

Legend of “La Calle del Truco”.
It is said that the street’s name comes from this word “truco”, which means a trick, a dodge or cheating in games of chance, though it may also be a corruption of the term "trueque", which means trade or exchange.
