Where to go?

University of Guanajuato:
Nestled among the hills, with its bright colours and typical architecture, is the lovely city of Guanajuato. The University of Guanajuato, spectacular in construction, with its long set of steps that attract everyone’s attention. In the past the university was located in the Hospice of the Santísima Trinidad, built by the Society of Jesus in 1732.

Arch of Triumph:
Built in 1893 to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of Mexico’s independence. It is in the neoclassical style and boasts a bronze lion donated by the bullfighter from León, Antonio Velázquez.

Guest House:
This was built in 1786. The facade has six arches over which there are balconies of carved stone. This house was acquired by the government of the state in 1940 to provide lodging for distinguished visitors. Every fifth year of government the president of the republic comes here for the re-enactment of “ el grito” and is housed here during his stay.

Mummy Museum:
A recently created museum which has a permanent exhibit of 22 mummified corpses. The museum features a description of the process of mummification. Visits can also be made to monuments and tombs of this cemetery. Situated in the Old Celaya Pantheon.
