3 ways to earn Academic Credits

1.- Pre-approval through your college or university

Contact the study abroad office or Spanish language department at your college prior to starting the program. Present your plan and ask exactly what is required in order to be assured that you will credits for your studies abroad. don Quijote is accustomed to providing syllabi and other documentation typically needed by universities and colleges in order to complete credit arrangements.

2.- Transfer credits

don Quijote already has agreements with the following accredited universities through wich you can earn credit. For all transfer of credits from either of these options, it is necessary to check with your own university concerning their relevant transfer policies.

A. University of New York, New Paltz (SUNY/New Paltz):
The Language Immersion Institute of the State University of New York, New Paltz grants undergraduate credits for all language courses at don Quijote. A student may earn three undergraduate credits for each two-week session. Therefore, a student may earn six credits for four weeks, but still only three credits for three weeks. B.The University of Southern Mississippi:
don Quijote programs are approved by the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). USM's international and foreign language programs are nationally recognized for their excellence. Applicants must complete a 3-week course consisting of at least 20 class hours per week (not including activities) in order to earn three hours of academic credit. Up to twelve undergraduate credits OR nine graduate credits can be earned.

Students should register for credit prior to their course start date at don Quijote. Credits will NOT be granted to students who register later than their first week of classes. To apply, students should submit transcripts of all previous university work, and a transcript from their Spanish language program to the University of Southern Mississippi. Grades are posted at the end of December, May and August. Decisions regarding specific course number, level and grade will be made by Dr. Yvonne Unnold, Assistant Professor , Department of Foreign Languages at USM.

3.- The lake Tahoe Community College Study Abroad Consortium

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) will grant credits to students enrolled at LTCC for course work completed with don Quijote. Students must be registered at LTCC. LTCC certifies that approved don Quijote language courses meet transfer requirements for all CA State Universities, University of CA campuses and are transferable to other institutions contingent upon their acceptance. A student may earn five undergraduate credits for each three-week session consisting of 5 hours of instruction per day. For more information, please contact:
