You will start from practical situations to then successively explaining the grammar. This makes the lessons very useful in daily life, lively and varied.

5. How many levels exists?
We work with four levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced, superior), fixing the goals for each, based on our experience and in accordance with the curriculum of the Instituto Cervantes. Consequently each level consists of 10 classes.
However, at this moment don Quijote can offer you the beginner's level. We are working to offer you more advanced levels. To be kept up-to-date join our free mailing list.

6. How do I know which level I've to start with?
At the moment don Quijote offers you the beginner's level, which is for students who do not have any knowledge of the Spanish language. In the future we will have other levels available and will provide you of course with a level test ensuring you the right level you will have to start with. And... you can always try out totally for free the first lesson of each level. Straight to the point. No waste of your time, no waste of your money!

7. How long will it take me to finish each level?
Studying online gives you the opportunity to adapt your time to the course and make progress at your own pace. However, we do recommend that you the same discipline and motivation as any other way of studying.
The average time spent to complete and pass successfully each level is approximately 40 hours. For better results we recommend you realise each level in no more than 4 months and avoid long breaks between the lessons and study with regularity.

8. What's the structure of the course?
Each level consists of 10 lessons and each lesson is divided into four parts rounding off with a test:
  • ENTRAMOS EN MATERIA
Showing a "real language situation" through a dialogue with audio. This section will act as an introduction to the grammar explanations and to the lesson's exercises.
  • MANOS A LA OBRA
This section is focused on grammar practice with easy exercises that the system will correct. This part will be useful to practice the theoretical knowledge acquired with the grammar. You will learn step by step and with easy instructions in several languages.
  • CAJÓN DE JUEGOS
    Fun activities complementing each lesson.
  • CARÁCTER LATINO
The cultural section of each lesson. Through an easy-to-read test or images you will learn about the way of life and culture in countries where Spanish is spoken.
TEST
Review of exercises that will help you practice all the knowledge acquired through the lesson. As in "Manos a la obra" the system will correct automatically.

9. Is the study material included?
Yes, all the study material you need is available on your computer screen just at one click, starting when your logon!

11. Will I be able to be fluent in Spanish?
Good question! We can't repeat it enough! Studying online does have a lot of advantages but you will have to take your time for serious studying. We do provide you with an unique method that gives you the possibility to reach a high level of the Spanish language. But of course it will depend on you as well! You will have to do the exercises, follow exactly all the instructions, understand what you are doing. And if you do have doubts or questions, don't think twice and immediately contact (y)our don Quijote teacher! Be inventive and try to make links in daily life. Don't feel 'stupid' when repeating words or sentences aloud. This will be perfect for your pronunciation. All this is necessary and you will succeed!

12. Will I obtain a certificate at the end of the course?
Given the nature of the courses and the impossibility of checking the student's identity, a certificate wouldn't credit your linguistic competition. Nevertheless, if you want to obtain a diploma that certifies your language level you can pass the DELE exam. DELE stands for 'Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera' or the Diploma 'Spanish as a Foreign Language'. It is the only certificate for non-native Spanish speakers officially recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science. These exams take place twice a year and it is possible to take this examination outside of Spain (at the Instituto Cervantes available in more than a hundred cities of different countries).

13. Can I obtain academic credits?
don Quijote has agreements with a number of colleges and universities, whereby participants can earn academic credit for their language study. However, applicants must complete a 3 week immersion program with at least 20 hours of class time per week (not including activities) to earn three hours of academic credit. Unfortunately, studying online can not be considered as an immersion program and therefore it is not possible to obtain academic credits.
