Los Realejos (pop. 32,588) is under the shade of the great slopes of the Las Cañadas del Teide mountain range. During the last few years this town has grown in importance and population. It is mainly agricultural surrounded by great banana plantations; even though today it has become a tourist extension of Puerto de la Cruz and thus, one can find many hotels and first-class residential quarters. La Concepción Church has got a magnificent Baroque Altar and a jasper sculptured Baptismal font. In Los Realejos one also finds the oldest Island's Church - the Santiago Parish - constructed in 1498.
On its coast there is a beautiful black-sand beach - El Socorro - and landscapes of exuberant beauty surround the whole city, among which one can highlight the already mentioned Rambla de Castro (Castro's Avenue). More towns and cities Know more towns and cities in Tenerife island. |
