Traveling to Oaxaca, Mexico

There are many ways to get to Oaxaca. If you plan to arrive by plane, the following airplanes service the Oaxaca airport:: Continental, Mexicana, Aeromexico, Aerotucan, Aviacsa, Aerocaribe and Avolar.

If you are traveling to Oaxaca from another part of Mexico, your best bet is to take a national flight or bus.

The best time to visit Oaxaca is usually from the months of October to May. Oaxaca City enjoys nice weather all year round, but May-September can be hot and humid, especially in the south of the state. From December to February, it can get very cold in the inland areas.

Accommodations often fill up during Holy Week ("Semana Santa"), the week before Easter, as well as during Christmas and the New Year.

The state's beach resorts become pretty crowded during the summer (July to September), as these months are popular holiday seasons for foreign guests.

Because Oaxaca is relatively less well-off than other cities in Mexico, accommodation, food & drink are quite affordable. There are a number of charming little inns and quality, comfortable hotels.
