City Tour of Puerto Vallarta

The Malecón boardwalk
The Malecón boardwalk - Puerto Vallarta

Although famous as a resort destination worldwide, Puerto Vallarta also has wonderful treasures away from the beach. Going on a tour around Puerto Vallarta can give you a fresh perspective on the city.

Visit Downtown Puerto Vallarta, or El Centro, with its old-fashioned casa-style houses. Stroll its famous Malecón boardwalk, take pictures at famous sculptures and buy fantastic souvenir items in the countless shops along the promenade. The main square, known as Plaza de Armas, is the location of the Municipal Center. Enter the popular Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with its magnificent bell tower.

Next, drop by Viejo Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta's old town. Get to know the best in Puerto Vallarta's art scene, with a walking tour of the numerous museums in the area. Don't forget to dine in one of the places along the so-called "Restaurant Row" on Basilio Badillo.

Feel the romance in Puerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone. Here you will find the welcoming shores of Playa de Los Muertos. It is also home to Huichol museums and the Olas Atlas walkway. See the fabulous villas by the hillside in Gringo Gulch. You might as well stay in Casa Kimberley, the bed-and-breakfast that was once the home of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The house is connected to the house opposite it by the infamous love bridge.

Also, visit Marina Vallarta, where you can find the best hotels, an 18-hole golf course, a lighthouse with an amazing view, and numerous condominiums and villas. It is centered on Puerto Vallarta's fully-equipped local marina, where numerous cruise ships dock everyday.

The River Cuale is also a sight in itself. Tour the sites in the area, including the botanical garden, an archaeological museum, the John Huston Plaza, and Isla del Rio Cuale.
Air-conditioned buses take travelers on Puerto Vallarta tours daily. They usually include transportation to and from your hotel as well as meals.
