Eva Mendes is a famous Cuban-American actress. Born in 1975 in Miami to Cuban parents and raised in Los Angeles, Eva Mendes was the only child of four to be born in the USA. Young Eva Mendes originally wanted to become a nun, but later pursued marketing at California State University in the 1990s where she also took acting classes under Ivana Chubbuck. Eva Mendes eventually dropped out of college to pursue acting when she was discovered by an agent who had seen a picture of her.

Eva Mendes slowly landed work in various commercials and music videos such as Will Smith's “Miami, Aerosmith's “Hole in My Sole”, and the Pet Shop Boy's “Se a vida é” before landing her first film debut in Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror (1998), which went straight to video. The same year the actress appeared in an episode of the popular American TV series ER.

The Cuban actress stared in several more films before landing her first big break when she appeared opposite Denzel Washington in the movie Training Day (2001). The Cuban American actress has posed nude for a Calvin Klein perfume campaign as well as in support of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
